August 18th is National Watermelon Day in America!  Watermelons are an incredible 92% water. 

Watermelon is the official state vegetable of Oklahoma.  At the Hope, Arkansas Watermelon Festival in 2005, Lloyd Bright weighed in a massive, record-breaking melon of 268.6 pounds! 

The Japanese have been growing watermelons in cube-shaped, tempered glass boxes.  The theory is that perfect sized melons fit on the refridgerator shelf with no wasted space!  All parts of a watermelon are edible, even the seeds and rinds.
